Post-screening discussion

Join our Emerging Professionals for a widely-acclaimed, upbeat documentary on zero waste solutions, followed by a discussion on how NYC can learn from other cities and reach its waste reduction goals.

Only one third of the waste in the United States is recycled or composted. To reach zero waste, we need to view the things we discard as resources, rather than garbage. Racing to Zero examines today’s culture of consumption and disposal, and discovers amazing solutions in San Francisco, which is successfully taking steps towards zero waste. Cities all over the US have instituted zero-waste policies of their own, challenging us to think differently about not only how we handle our garbage, but what it can become.

This event was coordinated by Urban Green Council's Emerging Professionals Committee, a dedicated group of young professionals who work to create a network of leaders in the field of sustainability.
